The Steve Balsamo Scholarship & The John Owen-Jones Award
The Voice College offers two annual scholarships starting in April each year, thanks specifically to the patronage of Steve Balsamo and John Owen-Jones. Below are some frequently asked questions about the scholarships:
What do the Scholarships include?
Fees and the cost of key texts for any one of our Distance Learning courses, for up to a year. (For The Professional & Advanced Professional teaching courses, we will cover costs for the first 12 time-tabled months). The Steve Balsamo Scholarship and The John Owen-Jones Award are identical in nature.
Who is eligible?
The scholarships are intended to go to students who would not under normal circumstances be able to afford the course fees, and who show exceptional promise in or aptitude for the subject. All normal course rules apply, and applications will be narrowed down based on a standard application form and an all-important personal statement. Applicants who reach the final stages of selection may be required to attend an interview and / or provide further details.
How do I apply?
The scholarships run from April to April, and applications are accepted from September to February. If you would like to apply, please complete the form below. Please note, we are unable to enter into discussions with applicants as to why an application is either accepted or rejected, and you will only be notified if you reach the final stages of selection.

In addition to the scholarships detailed above, we also give The P. J. Proby Achievement Award to one outstanding student per year in recognition for their achievements above and beyond the norm. The award winner also wins free entry to one of our workshops as part of their prize.
