Diploma:
Teaching Contemporary Singing
(Working with Children)

Course Overview

If you are a singer or singing teacher age 18 or over, with a solid background in performance, and wish to specialise in teaching youngsters age 7 - 11, then this course may be the one for you!  The correct teaching of musical and vocal skills is very important in the early years, and we realise that teaching children is not the same as teaching adults - hence the need for this course!

You will study a wide range of concepts and strategies for getting the very best out of your young students, being mindful of how to keep the voice safe whilst encouraging it to develop. We will provide you with tried-and-tested resources which are perfect for teaching youngsters, allowing you to help them develop musically as well as vocally.

Teaching rhythm is known to be a tricky subject, and so you will study ways of developing this vital skill in your students, in ways that apply to singers of all ages, but which are particularly useful when dealing with young learners.

In addition, you will be taught some essential approaches to the practice of teaching, in order that you know how to deliver your new-found knowledge, and naturally you will be given ample time to practise your teaching skills, which will be assessed live online at the end of your course. As with all of our distance-learning courses, the Diploma (Teaching Children) is fully tutor-supported.

Please note you are required to demonstrate competence in singing ability on application, by supplying website links (own website, Soundcloud, Reverbnation, Youtube, professional Facebook page, Dropbox folder or similar). We can also accept mp3 / mp4 files via email if no other option is available.
