Teaching Contemporary Singing

(Focus on Teaching Children)

Course Overview

If you are a singer age 18 or over, with experience in performing and a passion for teaching, and you are on a mission to learn how to teach singing to young children (from babies up to 9 / 10 years old), then this course may be right for you. Getting vocal training right from the ground up is very important to us at The Voice College, and we realise that teaching children is not the same as teaching either adolescents or adults - hence the need for this course!

You will study a wide range of approaches in the important field of teaching very young children (baby to 5 years). If we can establish great musical habits in the very young, we will often create lifelong musicians, with all of the brain benefits that that bestows! You will also study the fascinating and important world of how to teach rhythmic skills to children of all ages, even when working with children who do not seem to be able to find "where 1 is".

Importantly, this course comes with a wealth of material in the form of songs, exercises, games and teaching strategies for teaching children  - you really will be set up with everything you need from the outset.

In addition, you will spend time undertaking some real-world teaching practise, and you will be assessed live (online) at the end of your course. As with all of our distance-learning courses, the Higher Certificate (Children) is fully tutor-supported.

Please note you are required to demonstrate competence in singing ability on application, by supplying website links (own website, Soundcloud, Reverbnation, Youtube, professional Facebook page, Dropbox folder or similar). We can also accept mp3 / mp4 files via email if no other option is available.
