In addition to her Voice College duties, which are extensive, she runs a huge adult contemporary choir, can often be found running workshops both in person and online, and loves nothing more than arranging vocals, creating new resources for the college and studying her favourite subject - vocal energetics. Cordelia LewisDeputy Principal and Senior Tutor, also known as Givvi Flynn to her friends and in her other life as a rock star with psychedelic pop band The Dowling Poole. Cordelia is a multi-talented practitioner who also works as a graphic artist and stage photographer. She is based in Kidderminster, West Midlands, Worcestershire, where she has her own private teaching practice at Studio Blue. Givvi has shared stage and studio with numerous musical talents throughout the country, and is often to be found in France where The Dowling Poole have their studio, as well as on stage providing stellar back up vocals for other artists. She plays guitar too, and is always most at home wherever there is rock n roll! Catch her if you can! Christine JonesVice Principal and Senior Tutor, based in Warwickshire. Christine runs her own busy private teaching practice at Pitchperfect Vocals, as well as a large community choir. She's also a regular judge at national Live & Unsigned events. Christine is a successful singer-songwriter and has been playing guitar since she was very young. She's also a supreme voice geek and loves nothing more than getting to grips with the science behind how the voice works. She teaches online as well as in person so if you don't live close by - no problem! This very clever lady is also a qualified pharmacist, so she's the gal who can tell you whether or not that throat spray you're using actually works... Tutor: Alan is a working actor, currently performing mainly in Musical Theatre productions. Over the last few years he has worked extensively with the falsetto aspect of his voice and has put it to use in various all-male versions of the popular and award-winning Gilbert and Sullivan operettas in London, touring the UK and in Australia, playing the lead soprano roles.
Throughout 2016 he played Mary Sunshine in the UK national tour of Chicago - The Musical, again working in detail with this vocal colour. 2017 sees him touring the UK once more with award-winning director Sasha Regan's All-Male Mikado. Alan received the John Owen Jones Award in 2015 and then won the P.J. Proby "Student of the Year" award in 2016 - the first-ever Voice College student to do the double! Tutor: Cathy is a singer, choir leader, singing teacher and (just like the rest of us) voice geek extraordinaire! She is an avid learner and has trained extensively with some of the country’s top singing teachers.
She runs a busy private teaching studio in Ross on Wye, leads several community choirs across the Heart of England and is already doing a great job mentoring students as a Personal Tutor at The Voice College! Tutor: Daniel is a singer, musician and actor based in London. He began his training at the Dance School of Scotland in Glasgow, before completing his BA in Performance (Musical Theatre) at GSA Conservatoire, Guildford.
Professional work includes the European tour of The Who's Tommy, the UK tour of 'A Christmas Carol', concert tours with 'The Twelve Tenors' and contracts at sea for Belinda King Creative Productions as a Company Manager and Vocal Captain. Dan was the recipient of the Steve Balsamo Scholarship 2014 and is now teaching from his home in SE London, specialising in performance and audition technique (as well as the voice geekery we have come to expect from him)! Blog writer, short course designer and guiding light in the Voice College common room, Lydia is a singer, composer, and of course, a huge vocal nerd! She trained for a BA in Music from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, before going on to complete an MA in Composition from Leeds College of Music.
She runs a hugely successful studio in her home island of Guernsey, specialising in teaching adolescent and young adult singers. She is also a regular performer, runs Guernsey’s longest established community choir: ‘The Guernsey Glee Singers’, and still finds time to pursue her career as a choral composer, seeing her works performed and winning awards around the globe. In 2016 she received the John Owen-Jones Award, and then followed in fellow tutor Alan Richardson’s footsteps in ‘doing the double’ by winning the P.J. Proby “Student of the Year” Award in 2017. Course Leader, Sing 4 Health: Claire is a Professional Vocal Coach, Choir Leader and Singing for Health and Well-being Practitioner who runs 3 successful Community Choirs in addition to being an established private singing teacher.
She is passionate about singing for Health and Well-being, and works in conjunction with Parkinson’s UK and the Alzheimer’s Society to run singing sessions specifically for their service users. Claire is also a Singing for the Brain leader with the Alzheimer’s Society, and is an accredited singing group leader with the British Lung Foundation. In addition to all of the above, Claire is deeply committed to bringing singing to the disenfranchised of society, and also those with conditions such as anxiety and depression.
