Location, Venue & Accommodation
The course takes place at Charney Manor in Wantage, Oxfordshire. The manor house is a 13th Century conference and retreat centre in its own beautiful grounds covering some 3 acres. It is an incredibly peaceful, calm location close to a pretty village (and a great pub!) it sits within the triangle of the M5, M4 and M40.
The building has free WiFi throughout, a TV room and plenty of free parking. Each of the modest but comfortable en suite rooms includes tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer. Some of the rooms still maintain their original period features, and each room is unique. Please note that there are no TVs in the bedrooms, but there is nothing to stop you watching on your tablet or laptop, should you wish to switch off from the learning at the end of the day!
The venue is not a hotel so don't expect a bar on site (but did we mention that wonderful pub just five minutes walk away)?
Charney Manor is renowned for its high quality, traditional home cooked meals which are freshly prepared on-site using locally sourced ingredients. A continental breakfast is served each morning as standard, and lunch and evening meals are also included in the course fees. A range of alternative diets can be catered for - please let us know about any special requirements on your application form so that we can liaise with the staff at the manor. Should you wish to do a little sight-seeing on the Wednesday before arriving at the manor house, The Uffington White Horse and the historic Kelmscott Manor are less than 15 miles away.
Please note: if you are not able to drive to the venue, Charney Manor is a 30 minute taxi ride from Didcot and Oxford Railway Stations. Should sufficient attendees require it, we can arrange for a transfer for a small group from the railway station to the venue and back again on the Friday, at additional cost.
