A residential weekend of singing tuition, fully catered, with like-minded people in beautiful Shropshire... how good does that sound? We think it sounds pretty awesome and we hope you will too!
We've chosen the Mascall Centre in Ludlow (which has been described as "The loveliest town in England") to be the venue for this great-value course which runs from 5pm on Friday 26th to 4pm Sunday 28th September 2014.
The course is designed for those who want to explore the wonderful world of contemporary vocal technique and apply it to their own singing (or teaching)! No experience is necessary and you won't be made to sing on your own if you'd rather not - but we're hoping that by the end of the weekend, you will want to!
The course is equally suitable for newly-qualified singing teachers who want to experience life on the singing student's side, and to see how to break down essential voice technique in a simple and accessible way for their own students. (VIDLA students or graduates will be able to convert this course into an additional qualification by completion of a straightforward assignment after the event, if required).
The course will cover all of the most important aspects of singing technique:
Physicality, posture and alignment
Breath and support
Setting up the throat to make the best possible sound
Resonance awareness and manipulation
Vowel and formant modification
There will be a total of 8 training sessions across the weekend, including a final masterclass / 'big sing' session where attendees will be invited to put into practise the techniques that they have learned - all in a fun, informal, encouraging and confidence-building environment!
All of the training sessions will take place in the Mascall Centre's Corve Room (right) which is light, airy, spacious, and comes with its own kitchenette so that the all-important tea, coffee, water and hot and cold running biscuits can be available at all times!
The Mascall Centre has seven twin rooms and one room with disabled access and shower facilities. All of their rooms are bright, fresh and comfortable and have en suite toilets and showers.
There is a residents' lounge with comfortable chairs and coffee tables as well as a private courtyard garden.
Located in the heart of the beautiful market town of Ludlow, the Mascall Centre is within walking distance (approx 6 minutes) of the restaurants, markets, shops, pubs, museum, castle and church. In addition, the Shropshire Hills are right on your doorstep, with miles of beautiful countryside to explore.
Unusually in Ludlow, the Centre has ample free parking so there's no need to worry about finding a parking space and no need to pay expensive parking charges.
There is free WiFi internet access throughout the building, and tea and coffee making facilities in each room.
It is not necessary to share a room - you can have a twin all to yourself! However, there is a considerable financial advantage to booking a room to share with a friend!
The course is catered on a half-board basis.
Dinner will be provided on Friday night, with a continental or full English breakfast and a buffet lunch on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday night, feel free to explore one of Ludlow's many restaurants, bistros and wine bars! (It would be a shame to be in such a lovely town and not explore it a little, after all)! There's a "where to eat in Ludlow" guide right here.
Vegetarians are well catered for, and Pea Green Catering (right) serve freshly-prepared food made from the best ingredients from the local area. If you have special dietary requirements please ask, and we will contact the caterers to see what can be done!
