"Singing lessons are always greatly improved by a teacher who knows their way around a piano. We benefit from giving key notes, following melody lines, supporting the voice in simple chords, all the way up to fully accompanying our students in their chosen repertoire. It is essential that all singing teachers have rudimentary knowledge of the piano and how to get the best out of their students, by getting the best out of their piano skills.
This course is designed for everyone from the absolute beginner to a singing teacher who would like to begin the rewarding journey of being able to accompany their students, and to move away from iPods and backing tracks. This isn’t to say backing tracks are wrong - far from it in fact! A good teacher can use both at the same time to fully support their student as they learn and perform their material.
You will play along live with me via an online conferencing platform from the very first session, meaning that you can join in with live demonstrations and any mistakes can be rectified instantly. Whilst there will be limited written work, this course is primarily a practical one with the focus on ‘doing’. Continuous live assessment means that I will be able to help you make progress - fast!
This course is broken down into 4 live one-hour sessions that happen at a time of your choosing and at your convenience, meaning you can fit it around any schedule you may have.
If you struggle with your piano / keyboard skills, this is the perfect add-on to any other qualification you are studying towards with The Voice College! This course will make you a better singing teacher and the results will be seen in the progress of your students."
Before each session, worksheets and other resources will be provided to you via your private study room in our online campus. These will need to be printed out so that you can work through them on the day. You will also need a laptop, tablet or smart phone with a good data or wifi connection to be able to use the online platform for the live lessons.
Course costs: £227 when paid in full in advance.
2 x fortnightly payments of £116
3 x weekly payments of £79
